    Econ Grad?

Anyone else here planning on/doing/done economics grad work?

I sent out apps to 18 PhD programs for this round...hopefully I'll be starting work in the fall with funding!

    Re: (Henry HA)

I applied mostly for PhDs. My cumulative GPA was like 3.0, My econ GPA was like 3.7 and my math is 3.something also (took extra calculus etc)

    I have late updates

    Admitted to:

U Wyoming (paid Tuition, Fees, Insurance plus 16k stipend)
MTSU (Tuition, 50% fees, 14k stipend and 2k summer grant)
U Missouri (Tuition, Fees, 13k stipend)
    Clemson (Tuition, Fees, 15k stipend)
    U Oregon (no funding)
    U Kentucky (waitlisted for funding)
U New Mexico (never heard about funding)
UNC Greensboro (not so great funding)
U Arizona AREC Masters (tuition, fees, 7500$ research assistantship)
U Florida FRED (wanted to fund but dept is broke)
Michigan State ARE (unofficially offered funding but declined before details)
    U Utah (no funding...heterodox school)
NC State (never heard from them LOL)
UT Dallas (unofficially offered funding but declined before given details)
Kansas (no idea about funding, declined before I heard)

    Rejected:
    UC Davis ARE
    Maryland ARE

Unofficial Rejections (email or phone while hunting for programs):
    Vanderbilt
    WSU

I think I could've aimed higher or even shown more interest and obtained $ from kentucky, but I'm happy with teh results.

To people wanting to apply to econ phds:
Max out the GRE quant part (over 700 for sure)
take Calculus 1-3 (4 some places), Linear Algebra, and Stat courses and maybe Diff Eq, take Real Analysis if you want to go to a top 50

18 applications sounds like hell in terms of time and fees. I only applied to 3 schools.

I am considering the same, but I have my heart set on getting into a top 50 PHd program. Any advice in advance? I will probably begin applying in the next couple of years.

    Currently:
    3.82GPA, BSBA in Finance
2 Years of work experience at a large investment firm
Taking CFA Level II in June

What should I do? Should I focus on my GRE scores? I know that one of my weaknesses is definitely math. For my undergrad I never had to take calc, just stats. Would it be a wise idea to see if I could pick up evening courses for calc 1-3 at a university before I apply to PHd programs?
